All that Glitters is Gold: 28 Year Old Entrepreneur Turns Passion Into A Whopping Success
Whether it is luck, hard work, good timing, or a combination of all three, successful entrepreneurs often stumble across new and innovative ideas that quickly become the hottest thing. But how do you know when a product is hot? When you have celebrities like Christina Augilera, Ali Landry, Kelly Osbourne, and Paris and Nikki Hilton all using your product, that's when you know.
Girlactik Beauty is a line of make-up that is gaining more and more popularity with the recent release of its new products--and there are no signs of slowing down. Girlactik, created by Galit Strugano when she was just 25, has been featured in publications such as People, O Magazine, Glamour, and Seventeen. Next on the list is cosmetic giant Sephora, which launched Girlactik on its website in April.
With such success, it is hard to believe that Galit started with zero business experience and only $1,800--her entire life's savings. A make-up artist in Hollywood, Galit wanted to create a glitter product that would stay put on her clients, thus the idea for Girlactik base and fine sparkles--the company's signature product--was born.
Galit opened the Yellow Pages and found a chemist. Only after her products were created did the real trial begin. "After finding a chemist, I went to all different types of stores," she said. "I went to a store on Melrose, on Sunset, and I even went to a raver store." Galit stressed how important it was to make sure her product was one that would be liked by different types of people.
Although Galit's story may seem like a fairy tale, it was her drive and passion that got her through some tough times. She believes those times are merely preparation for the next hurdle she will have to jump. "In the business world, you need to be strong and persistent--never give up!" she emphasized.
Looking and sounding so young, Galit had a hard time getting people to take her seriously. "There is bound to be rejection and it happened to me. I am someone who takes things to the heart, so it made it even more difficult for me," confessed Galit. That is when her persistence kicked in. She made a point that, despite any circumstance, giving up just simply was not an option.
Nothing can compare to the hands-on experience Galit got by starting her own business. A natural-born businesswoman, Galit's outlook on her business is simply to follow common sense.
Yes, it took hard work for Galit to get where she is today, but the rewards are more than worth it. "The most rewarding thing is when I put the sparkle liner on people," she said. "When they look in the mirror, they are blown away and cannot stop staring at themselves. They have the biggest smiles on their faces." And true to the entrepreneur form, Galit is hardly satisfied. She is constantly adding new products to her creative make-up line.

You don't have to have a lot of money to create a successful company. Some of the most successful companies out there are the ones that started by bootstrapping.
