Going Rate

By brass Staff on November 1st, 2012 •

How do I determine appropriate rates for side or part-time jobs?

Compare national and local trends in pricing and, if possible, consult professional associations tied to your field. Otherwise, Craigslist and newspaper classifieds will help clue you in to the local pricing model.

If you have years of experience, training or degrees in the subject, charge accordingly. If you're struggling to build a client base, don't be tempted to undervalue your work. Instead, try offering perks like a free session after four paid ones to get the ball rolling.
