It’s that time again: there’s a new intern here at brass! Chris, the previous intern, was so great they decided to keep him around, so don’t worry--you’ll still be hearing from him. He’s been upgraded to a new office, and I’m happily taking over the intern desk.
Let me introduce myself by telling you what I’ve been up to lately. The past few months of my life have been jam-packed with change. I graduated with degrees in English and French, packed up my apartment in Utah with my husband (while resisting the temptation to pop all the bubbles in our bubble wrap), and hauled my belongings on a fifteen-hour drive to Oregon.
Change can be a good thing, right? The premise of change can launch a political candidate into office, give us hope for some semblance of world peace, and remind us that, yes, at some point we’ll be able to kick that bad habit of eating half a sleeve of Oreos in one sitting (who, me?).
However, job searching is one area where change makes things difficult. As I’m sure you know, it’s tough finding a job when you’re young or fresh out of college; combining it with a move to a new place where you have no contacts or network makes it extra tricky.
I’d almost given up hope on finding an opportunity to do what I love when I came across a posting for the editorial internship at brass. A glowing light shined down on my computer (kind of like the moment in Christmas Vacation when Clark Griswold finds the perfect Christmas tree) and a choir of songbirds erupted into the Hallelujah chorus. Okay, that’s just flowery hyperbole, but in all seriousness, I knew I had to find a way to get involved.
The fates aligned, and here I am, sitting in a cozy office with the most down-to-earth and friendly co-workers imaginable. I'm excited to bring you information about finance and money matters, and am grateful to be saying goodbye to my days of watching Oprah on the couch and rewriting my résumé. Change is good.

P.S. Speaking of changes, if you haven’t already, check out the new weekly feature we’ve added to the blog: Question Of The Week. See you there!

Cool post! I look forward to hearing more from you!
Thanks! I'm glad you stopped by!
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I think it depends on the context. However, I do always enjoy a good French maxim! (I believe the original version was "Plus ça change, plus c'est le même chose.")
