In the Summer 2010 issue, we published an article about the benefits of indoor gardening. Not content to only let others reap the (pun intended) produce of our content, I decided to plant an indoor garden in the brass content office.

For just under $20, I bought potting soil, a small shovel, the indoor plants, and a tomato (which I planted outside for more sunlight). It took me about fifteen minutes to plant the umm... plants.

Here's the list (clockwise from top left):

mint

rosemary

thyme

sage

basil

cilantro

Besides giving everyone here some much needed herbage (a real word), the garden has also brightened up what used to be simply a dirt rectangle just inside the front door--that's a win-win in my book. Here's to fresh mint in ice tea; cilantro in salsa; basil on baguette with a slice of tomato and mozzarella; and thyme, sage, and rosemary lending their savoriness (another real word) to a multitude of dishes. Happy gardening.
