For the last year, my co-worker Cody and I have made a tradition of eating fast food for breakfast every Friday. As our buddy Randy Kaufman ( click the link; he's the guy in the ill-fitting tracksuit) always said, "Quantity over quality." We call it Fast Food Friday--original, I know. It definitely had it's benefits--McDonald's Sausage McGriddle I'm looking at you--but the time had come to move on to something more substantive.
Today, we went with Taos breakfast burritos from local restaurant Zia Southwest Cuisine. As I was having a tantalization of the tastebuds, I was reminded of a truth that often gets overlooked: quality really is worth the price. Ya, I was paying more--$7.45 compared to $3.60--but the delicious difference was worth it. For less than $4 extra I was getting homemade tortillas, naturally raised veggies, local eggs and no mid-day coma, plus vitamins and minerals in place of mystery ingredients and assorted fats--something that can't be said for fast food.
My point: Whether it's food or something else, don't be afraid to drop a little extra coin. When you're out looking for a great deal, don't forget to factor in health, satisfaction, and long-term benefits. Read this article from time.com for more information.
Inferiority is everywhere, but in the long run, quality will win out. Here's another example: Compare this song to this one. There's no contest; Pavarotti wins.
Quality > inferiority. Don't settle for something less--in any aspect of life.
